Cornwall is famous for cafes that offer cream teas and pasties and Looe is no different. It has a large number of of cafes that serve a wide variety of food from cream teas, sandwiches, hearty hot meals to all day breakfasts and everything in between. Daisy's cafe is only 100 feet from Banjo Cottage and can be seen from Banjo's kitchen window.
Like many of the cafes in Looe it is fairly small with only 6 tables, but is one of the more famous cafes in Looe for their cream teas - with the (enormous) scones baked freshly by the owner each day.
The cafe has a retro 70s vibe and is open every day except Wednesday and Thursday from February to December.
It is often busy so it is best to get there early if you want to try some of their freshly made scones. The scones come in many different flavours and they sell out quickly. Their specials board outside details the flavours of the day.
Daisy’s cafe serves breakfasts and lunches. The lunches are sandwiches, toasties or pasties. The sandwiches are served on the thickest cut bread so will definitely fill you up. But if you can manage they do a lovely selection of cakes for dessert.
The cafe is on the South West Coast path (which also runs past Banjo Cottage's front door) so it is not uncommon for every table in the cafe to have a dog underneath.
Loowena cafe is only 220 feet from Banjo Cottage. Straight down Tower Hill and turn left, Loowena cafe is the last building on the left.
This cafe is a double fronted cafe which gives it more space inside as well as some seating outside. It is very close to the beach so is an ideal cafe to pop to if you have spent some time on the beach and want some refreshment.
Loowena prides itself on it's freshly made food which is of excellent quality.
Though it doesn't do larger meals, it does lovely sandwiches and cream teas as well as a good selection of teas and coffees.
Paws for Coffee cafe is just 410 feet from Banjo Cottage, down Castle Street, turn left and it is on your right.
You cannot get more dog friendly a cafe than this one. Paws for Coffee is new to Looe and is part of The Looe Pet Emporium and so you can buy a coffee as well as some food, leads, treats or even a new bed for your dog.
Paws for Coffee have a few tables inside and serve cakes and drinks only.
Stop here, your dog will thank you, even if your waistline doesn't.
The Lookout is only 0.1 mile away from Banjo Cottage and is on the Quay near the Lifeboat station.
Being on the Quay, The Lookout has several outside tables that overlook the river and West Looe and is perhaps one of the best cafe views in Looe.
The Lookout is one of the only cafes that is open all year round and offers breakfasts, lunches and dinners as well as cake (baked fresh by the owner daily), coffee and teas and offer a good selection of vegetarian and gluten free food too.
The Lookout regularly holds specialist events through out the year, that require booking such as The Custard Club, various Gin evenings and music evenings. So if you are staying at Banjo Cottage do look out for these events.
Pier One is only 0.1 mile away from Banjo Cottage, located on Fore Street near the Guildhall Market.
The great thing about Pier One is that it has a lot of outside space - the most of any cafe in Looe - and being on Fore Street (which is the main route from the car park to the beach) it is ideally suited for passing foot traffic.
Pier One is fully licensed, so you can buy alcoholic drinks from here as well as a wide selection of food and drink.
In Summer it can get very busy here due to it's location and though it has a lot of outside space the views are of the street rather than the river or sea.
The Old Boathouse is only 0.1 mile away from Banjo Cottage, located on the Quayside.
Being on the Quay, The Old Boathouse offers lovely views of the River Looe and the passing boat traffic. It has a good amount of outside seating on both sides of the road and if you can get a seat on the river side on a warm day it is an excellent spot to watch the world go by (just be careful of the seagulls).
The Old Boathouse provides a good selection of sandwiches, cakes and drinks (hot and cold) and well worth a visit.
Cafe Fleur is only 0.2 miles away from Banjo Cottage, located on Fore Street opposite the East Looe public car park.
One of the bigger cafes in Looe, Cafe Fleur is in prime location for foot traffic being so close to the East Looe car park and the main route to Millpool carpark.
It is a traditional cafe that has a good selection of food and drink from all traditional breakfasts to Cornish pasties and cream teas. It offers a range of Vegan and Gluten free food too.
Being on Fore Street and having large windows, Cafe Fleur is ideal for people watching whilst enjoying some excellent food.
Martin's Dairy is only 0.2 miles away from Banjo Cottage, located on Fore Street near Looe Bridge and the entrance to East Looe carpark.
Though Martin's Dairy may be more famous for it's amazing selction of cakes, breads, pasties and pastries in the window, as it is a bakery after all. It also has a few tables inside where you can sit and enjoy one (or more) of the cakes on offer and a tea or coffee.
Martin's Dairy is one of the most enticing shop windows in Looe and is perfectly positioned to lure customers in as they come over Looe Bridge on their way to the beach or on their way back to the car after a hard day relaxing in on the sands of East Looe beach.
