As owners of Banjo Cottage we take pride in making it as homely, clean and well equipped as possible for guests.
We love reading your comments both in the visitor’s book and online as they tell us how much you enjoy Banjo. They also tell us where you’d like to see improvements.
Since buying Banjo we have made quite a number of changes both large (new kitchen, new butler sink on ground floor, new en-suite) as well as smaller (new decorations, new washing machine (twice), new carpet, new cutlery, new kettle and toaster to name a few.
If you have any suggestions following your stay, please send us a message via email, WhatsApp or on the contact form and we will see what we can do.
Our next big change is to the bath in the second bedroom to turn it into a proper bath / shower combination. This has been booked in for beginning of December 2024.
Smaller updates, we will also be doing in December:
- putting a blind on the bedroom doors to block light through the opaque glass
- refreshing the paint on the banisters
Banjo Cottage does have it‘s own, small, parking space directly outside (as shown above). However, this is a small space, and would not fit a car bigger than a VW Golf hatchback.
We appreciate that guests who may have driven a fair distance, with their family, are likely to have a bigger car. But there is nothing we can do to extend the area of the carparking space connected to Banjo.
As such the only option is to use one of the paid car parks within Looe. This obviously adds cost to your holiday.
To overcome this we put ourselves on the council waiting list for an allocated parking space in Millpool carpark. After waiting two and a half years, we have finally been given the option to pay for one. Which we have accepted.
From December 2024 guests at Banjo Cottage will have access to a free, reserved, car park space int the Millpool carpark in Looe. The permit and entry / exit card will be found inside Banjo upon your arrival. Once unloaded, pick up the permit and drive over to Millpool carpark. Park in the reserved space, display the permit in your windscreen and use the card to exit whenever and how often you want without having to pay.
Please remember to return the permit and card back inside Banjo before you leave so future guests can use it.
As they are expensive and future guests will rely on it being there, there will be a charge if it is not left in the house when you leave. We hope you understand and enjoy the benefit.
From reading some reviews recently we noticed there were a few comments about the bed and mattress in the main bedroom. It was a new mattress when we bought Banjo but we kept the double sized bed as it fit better in the room.
However, from the comments it seems that a double is a bit small and people would prefer a king sized bed. As such, we have now put in a king sized bed with new mattress in the main bedroom.
It does make the space at the end of the bed to walk around a little tighter but with the new, narrower, bedside cabinets we hope that you find it better overall.
Historically, there was an astronomical telescope in Banjo as looking at the moon from the balcony was quite an impressive activity.
But we realised that it was a bit limiting as it was complex to use, if there were clouds it couldn't be used and couldn't be used to look at land based things.
So we have bought a spotting telescope that allows guests to look at ships out to sea, views around Looe or the moon all from the balcony.
This image shows how the lamp at the end of the pier looks with the naked eye and what it looks like through the telescope.
